
Museum Internship
As of January 15th, 2023, the Schwules Museum is offering a three-month (mandatory) internship in the field of press/public relations work with approx. 30 hours/week over 4 days.
Responsibilities:
- Daily tasks in day-to-day business such as research, shipping campaigns, answering email inquiries, telephone service, database maintenance, etc.
- Assistance in the planning and implementation of events and ongoing museum operations
- Editorial support for our profiles on Instagram, TikTok, Facebook and Twitter, our newsletter and the homepage
- Development, implementation, and evaluation of target group-oriented contribution formats in social media
- Support for the conception and production of web videos including transcription
- Editorial maintenance of external online portals
- Creation and maintenance of the press review
In addition, during the internship, you will gain extensive insight into the current exhibition projects and the accompanying supporting program as well as the daily processes in the museum.
Requirement profile:
- Studies in museum studies, history, media or cultural studies, or a corresponding subject-related study
- Proficient use of MS Office applications
- Good written and spoken English knowledge; good command of the German language and spelling
- Independent, responsible and structured way of working
Would be desirable:
- Knowledge of the LGBT*IQ+ communities and the Berlin cultural scene
- Knowledge of the museum and press landscape as well as current developments in social media
- Strong communication skills, ability to work in a team, organizational talent
- Additional knowledge of Photoshop, Premiere Pro/ Final Cut Pro, Hootsuite, Mailchimp or similar programs and application knowledge of WordPress and InDesign are very beneficial
If it can be proven that the internship is compulsory, an expense allowance of €300.00 per month can be paid. It is possible to have a BVG trainee ticket covered for the duration of the internship.
