Call for Assistant Curator

Pinacoteca Agnelli is looking for an assistant curator to work in the Curatorial Department.

The assistant curator will play a key role in the organisation of exhibitions and projects at Pinacoteca Agnelli, working closely with the Curatorial Department, which comprises the artistic director, chief curator, head of production and curatorial assistant. We are looking for a figure able to implement projects of varying nature independently, supporting the curatorial team in the research, coordination, organisation, production and communication of projects such as exhibitions, new commissions, public programmes, publishing projects and events.

Tasks

The assistant curator will be asked to

  • support the curatorial team in the research and conception of the institution’s programme, with the possibility to propose projects;
  • be part of the curatorial team, taking care of the coordination and production of projects with operational autonomy;
  • support the curatorial team in the drafting and editing of texts in Italian and English (formal letters, mediation texts, curatorial texts, press releases) and in the conception, coordination and production of publishing projects;
  • coordinate communication with artists, professionals from other institutions, galleries;
  • ensure effective communication between different departments and professionals involved in the institution’s programming;
  • manage the project budget;
  • be able to represent the institution in Italy and abroad at dedicated meetings and initiatives.

Requirements

  • excellent knowledge of spoken and written Italian and English;
  • hold a degree and specific training in art and curatorial disciplines – candidates with a different type of training are admitted with proven experience and knowledge in the field of Italian and international contemporary art;
  • prior experience of at least three years in one or more public or private contemporary art institutions;
  • a capacity for operational and managerial autonomy on complex projects;
  • proven experience of direct project work with artists, artist studios, institutions or galleries.

Technical information

  • full time employment with required presence in Turin;
  • contract from February 2023 to August 2024;
  • contractual formula to be defined depending on the candidate’s tax position;
  • depending on the tax position and degree of experience, remuneration may vary from EUR 24,000 to 34,000 gross per year.

  • 2 texts written in Italian and 2 texts written in English. The texts can be: exhibition text; long caption; press release; curatorial text.

Selection procedure

Candidates will be pre-selected from the submitted materials. A shortlist of candidates will be invited to an interview at Pinacoteca Agnelli in Turin by the second half of January 2023.
