Role Summary
The Associate Educator in Public Engagement will help develop and run adult programs at the Museum. This role involves creating and leading programs like artist talks, workshops, and performances. These programs aim to inspire new ideas and encourage conversations about art’s role in individual and societal change. The Associate Educator will collaborate with the Manager of Public Engagement to attract new audiences and align programs with the Museum’s exhibitions.
Key Responsibilities
- Develop and implement public programs for adults, collaborating with various stakeholders.
- Host and evaluate public programs, ensuring they meet production deadlines and achieve their goals.
- Support the development of annual program strategies to build audiences and create coherent program series.
- Expand the network of collaborators and community partners to enhance program offerings.
- Contribute to a proactive team culture focused on improving public engagement at the Museum.
- Analyze audience research to inform programming strategies.
- Develop new adult programs and experiences, both virtual and onsite, that complement the Museum’s exhibitions and collection.
- Stay connected with the museum professional community through conferences and organizations.
- Support the Public Engagement team in various capacities as needed.
Requirements
- Bachelor’s degree in art history, museum studies, education, or a related field (master’s preferred).
- At least five years of relevant experience in museums or the cultural sector.
- Proven ability to develop and coordinate events for adult audiences.
- Skilled in evaluating program impact.
- Strong presentation skills and ability to engage diverse groups.
- Cultural awareness and sensitivity to diverse identities.
- Experience managing budgets.
- Excellent interpersonal, negotiation, and team-building skills.
- Effective time management and organizational skills.
- Strong communication skills and a proactive approach.
- Availability for evening and weekend work as needed.
