Introduction
The prestigious European Heritage Awards / Europa Nostra Awards 2024 are now accepting submissions! This is a unique opportunity for Europe’s architects, craftsmen, cultural heritage experts, professionals, volunteers, institutions, and local communities to gain recognition for their outstanding contributions.
Awards’ Purpose
These awards spotlight and endorse best practices in conserving and enhancing tangible and intangible cultural heritage. They foster cross-border knowledge exchange, heighten public awareness and appreciation of Europe’s cultural heritage, and inspire further excellence through leading by example.
Five Categories for Entries
Applications are welcomed in these five categories:
- Conservation & Adaptive Reuse
- Research
- Education, Training & Skills
- Citizens Engagement & Awareness-raising
- Heritage Champions
Awards and Benefits
Up to 30 exceptional heritage accomplishments from across Europe will be honored. Among them, up to 5 winners will be granted a Grand Prix with a monetary prize of €10,000. Additionally, the Public Choice Award recipient will receive €10,000, decided through an online vote by Europa Nostra, the leading European Voice of Civil Society Committed to Cultural Heritage.
Origin and Support
The European Heritage Awards / Europa Nostra Awards were inaugurated in 2002 by the European Commission and have been administered by Europa Nostra since then. They receive backing from the European Union’s Creative Europe program.

Previous winners have enjoyed significant advantages, including increased national and international exposure, higher visitor numbers, and subsequent funding opportunities.
