2026 Open Call – Tin Sheds Gallery, University of Sydney, Australia

Deadline: 10am (AEST), Monday 7 July 2025
Funding: AU$10,000 per solo exhibition; AU$6,000 (Space A) / AU$4,000 (Space B) for shared exhibitions
Location: Tin Sheds Gallery, Sydney School of Architecture, Design and Planning, University of Sydney
Exhibition Periods: February–March / April–May / August–October / October–November (June–July unavailable)

Tin Sheds Gallery invites proposals for its 2026 exhibition program from local, national and international curators, artists, designers, architects, and researchers. Selected exhibitions should critically engage with contemporary issues in art, architecture, design and urbanism, and demonstrate a clear rationale, innovative approach, and strong public engagement strategy.

Selection Criteria

  • Clear conceptual rationale and exhibition content
  • Alignment with Tin Sheds Gallery’s mission
  • Originality and innovation in artistic or research practice
  • Audience engagement and critical dialogue potential
  • Draft exhibition budget and timeline, including milestones
  • Potential for public programs (talks, workshops, symposiums)
  • Engagement with the University of Sydney’s teaching and research is encouraged

Support Provided

  • Production budget (as listed above)
  • Dedicated Gallery Manager and technician support for installation and deinstallation
  • Marketing and logistical event support
  • Exhibition signage and up to 200 printed A4 leaflets/room sheets
  • Access to a range of in-house AV equipment and gallery furniture
  • Catering for exhibition openings
  • Insurance coverage for exhibited works

Additional Information

  • Exhibition proposals may be scheduled to run concurrently with others
  • No storage facilities are available; all materials must be removed post-exhibition
  • Limited climate control is available; support for sensitive works can be discussed
  • Proposals will be reviewed by the Tin Sheds Advisory Group
  • Only shortlisted applicants will be invited to interviews and receive feedback
  • Final decisions will be communicated by late July–early August 2025
