Serpentine Galleries are some of Britain’s best loved galleries, attracting up to 1.2 million visitors in any year.  Since 1970, the Serpentine Galleries has gained an international reputation for excellence, working with over 2,876 artists, architects and designers in 46 years.  The Serpentine maintains free access for all visitors and offers innovative ways for people of all ages to engage with modern and contemporary art, architecture, design and performance through exhibitions, education and public programmes.

The Serpentine has pioneered partnerships with public funders and private philanthropy for over 20 years, raising 83% of its annual income from a range of corporate supporters, private donors, charitable trusts and earned income, receiving the balance from Arts Council England.  We are looking for an experienced Head of Grants, Trusts and Foundations to join our team on a 12 month contract to cover a period of Maternity Leave.  You will be responsible for developing and implementing or managing our fundraising strategy to maximise the income of the Serpentine Galleries from Arts Council England, charitable trusts, foundations, embassies and cultural institutes and any other statutory sources.

The successful candidate will be creative and ambitious, with a proven track record in trust and statutory fundraising procuring six figures, multi-year committed grants.  You will be an excellent communicator who can write compelling bids, accurate monitoring reports and build ongoing relationships with high profile trusts and foundations.  An understanding of wider fundraising strategy is essential.
