Adjunct faculty positions for MFA in Curatorial Practice courses for AY21: Curatorial Practice Seminar, Thesis, Practicum, and Intercultural Practices.
Summary of Essential Functions:
- Teach graduate students the rising and pressing concerns in the fields of curatorial practice, contemporary art, and community-based practices
- Teach graduate students to consider the ethics and impact of their emerging practices
Essential Duties & Responsibilities:
- Collaborate with the program director to connect the course to program initiatives and learning outcomes
- Develop and present weekly lectures and presentations featuring practitioners, cultural projects, and case studies
- Develop a course reading list with reflective assignments
- Develop and lead participatory workshops
- Present information and assignments to students orally and in writing
- Research and invite guest lecturers and critics
- Facilitate and moderate student discussions
- Assess and grade student work throughout the semester and at its conclusion
Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:
- Knowledge of socially engaged curatorial practices, emerging art practices, and art history and theory
- Google/Adobe/Microsoft software, classroom hardware, and grading and assessment systems
- Ability to work with students from all backgrounds and stages in their careers both individually and in groups
Minimum qualifications:
- Master’s degree in related field
- Demonstrated experience developing and implementing curatorial and cultural projects
- Demonstrated teaching experience
Preferred Qualifications:
- Track record of working with diverse constituents, partners, students, audiences, and communities
- Strong foundation of the various social and political intersections of contemporary art, culture, and society
- Actively working in the field
