ALT.+1000 PHOTOGRAPHY FESTIVAL

International open call for curators

Call for applications is open from 01.04.2022 to 15.05.2022
Exhibition Dates: 27.08.2023.-18.09.2023

The Alt. +1000 festival will host its 7th edition in the Jura mountains (Switzerland) in 2023.

Every two years, the festival is held in a beautiful and pristine landscape. Its exhibitions are shown outdoor, on the banks of the bucolic Lac des Taillères.

For the next edition, the festival will bring together a group of curators. They will each propose photographic works to be shown on the banks of Lac des Taillères. We accept proposals from established or/and emerging curators, in all areas of contemporary photography practice and forms. The selection will take into account gender balance and overall diversity. Applications from groups of curators are also accepted; collective and individual applications are considered equal. The curators can either propose a group or a solo show. The proposals selected will be those judged the strongest by a jury of professionals.

Each year, the festival focuses on a specific theme through photographic exhibitions, talks, and educational activities. Set in the heart of a mountain landscape at an altitude of 1000 meters, the festival intends to continue its exploration of the landscape. Between ideal projection and reality, the notion of landscape is an extremely varied theme in photography. It will be an attempt to encounter the imaginary worlds that shape and weave them. Photography, among other disciplines, has always participated in the creation and reinforcement of individual and collective mythologies linked to it.

A committee of renowned curators and art historians will compose the jury. Nathalie Herschdorfer (recently appointed director of the Swiss photography museum Photo Élysée) will be the chair of the jury.
