ARCHIPEL.EU Mobility Fund

The Archipel.eu pilot project, launched in June 2021, aims to preserve and promote the culture of the European Union’s outermost regions and overseas countries and territories. It is co- financed by the European Union and coordinated by the Institut français (Paris, France), in partnership with the Overseas Countries and Territories Association (Brussels, Belgium) and the Agência de Promoção da Cultura Atlântica (Madeira, Portugal).
  • Improve communication between the ORs, the OCTs and the European Union as a whole;
  • Encourage mobility, exchange and cooperation between culture and creative-sectorprofessionals;
  • Promote, preserve and foster knowledge of the local cultures of the Outermost Regionsand through exchange between the ORs, between theOCTs, between the ORs and the page1image1124741712and throughout the European Union;
  • Explore the use of digital technology to promote culture and intercultural dialogue, therebyraising awareness about cultural diversity and building bridges between communities.

Artists, groups of artists and/or culture-sector professionals legally residing in the ORs orOCTs who submit applications on an individual basis (who are not represented by a structure). Eligible disciplines: performing arts, music, visual arts, design, architecture, digital creation and others.

This fund is based on a continuous open call until December 2022. Applications must be submitted on line and will be evaluated by a panel of experts who meet on line every month.

What type of projects are concerned?

Individually mobile projects, face-to-face, hybrid projects (face-to-face and digital) and all- digital projects (virtual exhibitions, interactive performances, master classes, webinars, etc) are all eligible. For the purpose of this fund, virtual mobility is intended to foster a more eco- responsible and sustainable approach while building resilience in the culture sector in the current context.

Priority will be given to supporting mobility (physical, virtual or hybrid) for participation in events, training courses, conferences, seminars, debates, research and artistic collaboration, as well as cross-creative residencies.

In this context, this fund supports the physical and virtual mobility of culture-sector professionals and artists in the outermost regions of the European Union (ORs), the Overseas Countries and Territories (OCTs)1 and throughout the European Union.Overall budget dedicated to this specific Mobility Fund: €250,000 divided between two calls :
  1. €100,000 for this call
  2. €150,000 for a second call that will concern networking, to be published in February2022.

Application guidelines

The Selection Committee will meet monthly.
Results for each application will be announced the month following the receipt of the application.
First committee meeting: November 13, 2021.
Last committee meeting: December 13, 2022.

Provide the following information on the on-line form:

  • Applicant: information about the applicant.
  • Description of the project: brief presentation of the mobility project, objectives and expected results, challenges of the mobility project, envisaged start date and duration.
  • Partnerships: information on possible contacts and established partnerships with artists and/or professionals.

Documents to attach to the file:

  1. A curriculum vitae of the applicant
  2. An artistic information pack describing the project and its objectives
  3. A portfolio (folder with images, links to documents or videos)
  4. A letter of invitation from a professional organization or proof of registration for an event
  5. A budget forecast

Each application must be submitted 6 weeks before the start date of the mobility project.
