Archivist

documenta und Museum Fridericianum gGmbH is seeking an Archivist (m/f/d) for the Documenta Archive as part of its cataloging and digitization initiative. Founded by Arnold Bode in 1961, the Documenta Archive is dedicated to collecting, documenting, and researching texts, images, and objects related to modern and contemporary art, particularly focusing on the history of Documenta exhibitions. This position involves managing and cataloging both analog and digital materials, with a special emphasis on audiovisual collections.
Key Responsibilities:
- Cataloging and digitizing archive materials, particularly audiovisual content.
- Ensuring the proper care and conservation of archival objects in coordination with the conservation team.
- Managing and converting digital assets, including editing, format conversion, and creating metadata.
- Responding to research inquiries and providing archival resources for both academic and public use.
- Collaborating with external partners and institutions on archive-related projects.
Qualifications:
- A degree in archival studies, information science, or a similar field, or equivalent professional experience.
- Proficiency with archival standards, metadata formats, and digital archiving tools (e.g., ISAD(G), EAD, XML).
- Experience with media and archival software (e.g., ActaPro, Adobe Premiere Pro).
- Knowledge of contemporary art, particularly relating to Documenta’s history.
This full-time position is fixed-term until December 31, 2025, with a weekly working time of 40 hours. Compensation is aligned with TVöD public service standards, depending on qualifications. Application deadline: October 20, 2024.
