Galerie Gmurzynska, a leading international gallery with a 60-year legacy in classic modern and post-war contemporary art, is seeking an Art Historian to join its Zurich-based team. The gallery is renowned for its expertise in avant-garde and 20th-century abstraction, and has published over 300 seminal art historical books.
Key Responsibilities
- Conduct in-depth research on modern artworks
- Write for gallery publications and internal dossiers
- Support with institutional loan requests
- Collaborate on editorial and publication projects
- Proofread and fact-check documentation
- Conduct archival research
Candidate Requirements
- Degree in Art History (BA required; MA or PhD a plus)
- Strong knowledge of 20th-century art history
- Excellent writing and communication skills in English (C1/C2 level)
- German language skills encouraged
- Detail-oriented, organised, and able to meet deadlines
- Proficiency with Mac OS, Microsoft Office, and ideally art database systems
