ARTIST AND AUTHOR RESIDENCIES PROGRAM
Est-Nord-Est, St-Jean-Port-Joli (Canada)
Est-Nord-Est (ENE) invites artists and authors from Québec, Canada, and around the world to apply for its eight-week residency program. ENE is dedicated to fostering creative exploration and research in the broad field of visual arts, offering participants the time and space to experiment freely without the pressure of final exhibition or dissemination. The program takes place in the serene, rural setting of St-Jean-Port-Joli, by the river, providing an inspiring environment for innovative work.
Each residency cycle hosts four artists and one author, selected to encourage dialogue and complementary practices that align with the experimental and exploratory ethos of the program. Residents are provided with honorariums, accommodation, technical and logistical support, and access to the center’s rich documentary resources.
Key Features of the Program:
- Time and Space: Emphasis on creative research and process, with no pressure for final exhibition.
- Unique Setting: Residency in a rural environment with a strong connection to nature, near the river, which fosters deep reflection and creativity.

For Artists:
- Eligibility: Open to professional visual artists from Québec, Canada, and abroad, whether established or emerging.
- Duration: Eight-week residency for four artists per season.
- Support: Honorarium, accommodation, technical and logistical support, and access to the center’s resources.
For Authors:
- Eligibility: Open to authors whose research and writing focus on contemporary visual or media arts.
- Duration: Eight-week residency, running simultaneously with artist residencies.
- Support: Honorarium, accommodation, logistical support, and access to the center’s documentary resources.
