The Office for Contemporary Art Norway (OCA) offers two residencies at the International Studio and Curatorial Program (ISCP) in New York City—one for an artist and one for a curator. ISCP, founded in 1994 and located in Brooklyn, is New York’s most comprehensive international residency programme, hosting 35 studios, galleries, and a project space.
Residents work independently, with opportunities to exhibit, join open studios, and engage with New York’s art community. The programme fosters global exchange and professional development through tailored meetings, public events, and collaborative initiatives.
Residency Format
For Artists
- Duration: 12 months (September–August)
- Work studio at ISCP and apartment in Brooklyn
- Living grant: NOK 20,000 per month
- Travel grant: NOK 25,000
- At least 12 one-hour meetings with guest critics
- Field trips and public presentation opportunities
For Curators
- Duration: 3 months (September–November)
- Small office at ISCP (housing not included)
- Living grant: NOK 20,000 per month
- Travel grant: NOK 20,000
- At least 3 one-hour meetings with guest critics
- At least one public presentation opportunity
Eligibility Criteria
- Open to Norwegian artists and curators, and international artists and curators residing in Norway.
- Applicants must not be BA/MA students or artist groups.
- Must be eligible for a U.S. residence permit.
Assessment Process
Applications are evaluated by an international jury appointed by OCA. Shortlisted candidates are nominated, with final selection by ISCP. Results are communicated within four months. Decisions are final and not subject to appeal.
