Role Overview
Responsible for planning, developing, coordinating, and delivering Castlefield Gallery’s artist development programs, the post-holder collaborates with the gallery team to create dynamic public programs. Effective partnership and collaboration, along with nurturing relationships with organizations, groups, and individuals, are central to this role. The position reports to the Castlefield Gallery Director and Artistic Director.
Qualifications
We are seeking a creative individual, ideally a practicing visual artist, artist-curator, or artist-organizer, to lead our Artist Development Programs and contribute significantly to our broader creative and public programs.
Artist Development Programs: These encompass practice, professional, and career development activities for various artist groups, from recent graduates to those at later career stages, as well as communities of interest, self-taught artists, and those facing barriers in the arts and cultural sector.
Public Programs: These include in-person and online activities connecting artists, their work, and ideas with creative communities and the wider public. Building connections across Castlefield Gallery’s program strands enhances engagement and enriches experiences.
Expectations
We require someone who comprehends the relevance of Castlefield Gallery’s activities in the contemporary world, values equality, diversity, and inclusion, and is committed to equitable practices. A deep understanding of contemporary visual arts and culture, coupled with enthusiasm for working directly with people, is essential. Effective communication skills, both in-person and online, are a must. The role involves managing deadlines, a busy workload, and meticulous attention to detail. You should be organized, motivated, and adept at both collaborative and independent work.
