Founded in 1991, carlier | gebauer is an international contemporary art gallery with locations in Berlin and Madrid. The gallery represents over 30 artists and regularly participates in leading art fairs worldwide. Our artists are featured in international exhibitions and realize major solo and group shows at renowned institutions.
To support our Berlin team, we are seeking a highly motivated and experienced Artist Liaison & Sales Associate (Full-Time).
Responsibilities (include but are not limited to)
- Individual and close support of gallery artists and their studios
- Serving as the main point of contact for all internal and external inquiries related to the artists
- Planning, preparation, and supervision of exhibitions, as well as support in the realization of projects, fairs, and institutional collaborations
- Budget calculation and monitoring for artwork productions and exhibitions
- Attendance at institutional exhibitions, with occasional travel required
- Support in the sales department, including preparing and sending offers, actively advising and assisting existing and prospective collectors, as well as participating in art fairs and related events
- Continuous engagement with and presentation of gallery exhibitions, including on Saturdays
- Maintenance and updating of internal artist archives, portfolios, CVs, and artwork databases
Qualifications
- Several years of experience working closely with artists and institutions at an international level
- Experience in sales and client acquisition
- Strong knowledge of the international art market and current developments in contemporary art
- Highly organized, proactive, and able to manage multiple projects simultaneously
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with a professional and confident manner when interacting with artists, collectors, and institutions
- Fluent in English and ideally German (written and spoken); additional languages are an advantage
- Proficient with Mac and Microsoft Office applications, as well as Adobe Creative Suite (particularly InDesign)
