Artist Pension Trust® (APT) is looking to employ an Artist Relations Director in New York to join our existing team. Founded in 2004, APT offers both long-term financial security and international exposure to select artists around the world. Based on a unique tailor-made financial model, APT is dedicated to the needs of emerging, mid-career and established artists.
This position is offered in order to provide the participating artists a point of contact within the organisation and to assist them in keeping up with the program’s requirements in order to receive their yearly distributions.
Job description:
We are looking for an arts professional to join our expanding global team to deliver the vision of the organisation. You will report to the department head and have the following responsibilities:
- Responsible as the single point of contact for regional allocated artists participating in the APT program, for all their account needs.
- Discussing and selecting new artwork investments with your artists in line with the APT selection criteria.
- Ensuring that all information on artists/artworks is complete, correct and in line with APT’s registrar.
- Assisting your regional curatorial team, you will know how to explain the APT financial model and assist new artists to join the program.
- Offer services to your artists (Loans & Exhibitions/Concierge/Global Connect Residencies)
- Assisting the global sales team with sales requests for your artists.
The profile:
As an arts professional, you will give real attention and sensitivity to each artist assigned to your account in order to meet their APT needs, forming a close working relationship. The successful candidate will be a responsible, highly organised individual with excellent oral and written communication skills. You will work as part of a global team but also hold your own local network (galleries, art museums, institutions, independent curators). Working with your artists you will form the APT Collection by selecting their yearly artwork investments. The position requires a committed and dynamic individual who is hard working and knows how to manage their time to yield results. Attention to detail is vital with a real desire to give the best service to every artist participating in the program.
Requirements:
Undergraduate degree within the fine art, art history, or curatorial studies (graduate level work preferred) English must be of a professional working level – any other languages are beneficial. Spanish (preferred)
Appointment:
You will be offered a one-year contract, with an initial trial period of 3 months, with the possibility to extend this contract into a permanent engagement if your ability and aptitude for the position has been satisfactorily demonstrated.
