The Arts House Trust (TAHT) is seeking a motivated and detail-oriented Art Loans Manager to lead its external Art Loans Programme and support the dynamic operations of its renowned contemporary art collection. This permanent role is focused on managing both incoming and outgoing art loans, facilitating long-term loans, and coordinating short-term loans in various public and corporate environments.
The Art Loans Manager will work closely with the Curator & Collections Manager to ensure the safe transport, handling, installation, and documentation of artworks, maintaining excellent records for the collection, insurance, and valuations.
Key Responsibilities:
- Facilitate Loan Requests: Coordinate exhibition loan requests, handle approvals, and ensure timely communication with stakeholders.
- Negotiation and Agreements: Review and negotiate loan agreements, valuations, and insurance.
- Logistics Management: Organize the handling, packing, transport, and storage of artworks, adhering to best practices and cultural sensitivity.
- Documentation: Maintain physical and digital loan documentation, ensuring accurate records and archiving.
- Data Management: Manage collection and loan data in the Vernon CMS, ensuring accuracy and proper digital record linkage.
- Stakeholder Relations: Build and maintain strong relationships with stakeholders, including iwi/hapu, museums, galleries, and others.
- Collaboration: Assist with exhibition curation, installation, and deinstallation.
Qualifications and Experience:
- Degree in Arts, Museum Studies, Collection Management, Art History, Fine Arts, or a relevant field.
- 3-5 years of experience in a similar role, with expertise in art loans, curating, exhibition installation, and collection management.
- Proficiency in Vernon CMS, MS Office, and Adobe Creative Cloud.
- Strong project management and stakeholder relationship skills.
- Experience in arts facilities or institutions.
- Cultural competency and sensitivity to working with diverse communities, including iwi/hapu.
- A current New Zealand driver’s licence and the ability to travel occasionally.
- Eligibility to work in New Zealand (NZ Citizen or Permanent Resident).

- Excellent interpersonal and communication skills (verbal, written, and listening).
