The Andy Warhol Foundation Arts Writers Grant Program supports both emerging and established writers producing critical writing on contemporary visual art. Grants range from $15,000 to $50,000 and are available in three categories:

Short-Form Writing
A new Translation Grant is also available in 2025 for book projects translating texts about contemporary visual art into English.
The program encourages writing that engages broad or specialized audiences and supports projects that use interdisciplinary methods or experimental literary styles. Writers may propose reviews, journalistic articles, or scholarly studies.
Eligibility
Applicants must be:

Individuals (not organizations or editors)

Art historians, curators, critics, artists, or writers from other disciplines engaged with contemporary visual art

At least 25 years old by October 1, 2025

U.S. citizens, permanent residents, or O-1 visa holders

Published authors (specific publication requirements vary by category)
Not eligible:

Full-time students (except those with concurrent professional writing careers)

Writers submitting interpretive texts on their own practice

Projects based on dissertations, memoirs, or fiction

Applications involving Q&As, gallery publications, or Warhol-related topics
