Arts Writers Grant Program

Deadline: May 18, 2016
The Creative Capital | Warhol Foundation Arts Writers Grant Program supports writers whose work addresses contemporary visual art through project-based grants, ranging from 15,000 to 50,000 USD, issued directly to twenty individual authors a year. The program was founded in recognition of both the financially precarious situation of arts writers and their indispensable contribution to a vital artistic culture. The Arts Writers Grant Program aims to support the broad spectrum of writing on contemporary visual art, from general-audience criticism to academic scholarship. Writers who meet the program’s eligibility requirements are invited to apply in the following categories:
- Articles
- Blogs
- Books
- New and Alternative Media
- Short-Form Writing
To be eligible for this grant, an arts writer must be
- an individual;
- applying for a project about contemporary visual art;
- an art historian, artist, critic, curator, journalist, or practitioner in an outside field who is strongly engaged with the contemporary visual arts;
- a US citizen, permanent resident of the UnitedStates, or holder of an O-1 visa;
- at least twenty-five years old;
- a published author (specific publication requirements vary depending on grant category).
The 2016 Grant Application opens April 20, 2016 and closes May 18, 2016. For more information about this program or to apply, please visit the Arts Writers website.
