Salary Range: $62,800–$94,200

Art Bridges Foundation seeks an Assistant/Associate Curator to support the Curatorial and Learning & Engagement departments in creating accessible and engaging art experiences for diverse audiences. The role involves developing interpretive materials, conducting research, supporting exhibitions, and fostering audience engagement through educational initiatives.

Responsibilities

  • Interpretive Planning
    • Develop interpretive strategies for exhibitions and loans.
    • Create written, audio, and visual materials such as labels, wall texts, and multimedia guides.
    • Maintain digital interpretive content for the foundation’s platforms.
  • Research & Curatorial Support
    • Conduct object and thematic research to support loans and exhibitions.
    • Write essays, labels, and other curatorial documents.
    • Participate in exhibition planning and coordination.
  • Audience Engagement
    • Collaborate with the Learning & Engagement team to create programs enhancing public engagement.
    • Evaluate interpretive materials and programs for improvement.
  • Administrative Tasks
    • Manage timelines, budgets, and resources for projects.
    • Document project outcomes and supervise interns.
    • Represent Art Bridges at partner museums and conferences.

Qualifications

  • Education & Experience
    • MA in Art History or related field preferred; knowledge of American Art required.
    • 2-3 years of curatorial experience.
  • Skills
    • Ability to translate complex ideas into accessible content.
    • Proficiency in digital tools for interpretation (e.g., audio guides, online engagement).
    • Strong research and audience engagement skills.
    • Familiarity with project management and public programming.
  • Other Attributes
    • Excellent communication and organizational skills.
    • Initiative, collaborative spirit, and ability to manage multiple projects.
    • Willingness to travel and adapt to a dynamic environment.

Work Environment

  • Full-time office-based role in Bentonville, AR.
  • Occasional overnight travel.
