About the post

Reporting to Exhibitions and Learning Curator, the Assistant Curator will assist in conceptualising and realising learning service needs and identify potential projects and coordinating in project implementation of learning programmes and preparation of resources that are inclusive for a wide range of visitors such as public seminars and activities, docent programmes, collaboration with schools and public tours for the wider public.

Main Duties

Assistant Curator / Associate Curator will be expected to:

  • Work closely with Exhibitions and Learning Curator and assist in realising learning needs and identify potential projects for CHAT.
  • Research to support curatorial programme (exhibitions, learning programmes, workshops) in terms of textile and contemporary art history.
  • Coordinate in project implementation of learning programmes and preparation of resources that are inclusive for a wide range of visitors such as public seminars and activities, docent programmes and public tours for the wider public.
  • Build and maintain good relationship with universities, schools, NGO, cultural institutions and other stakeholders to disseminate CHAT’s mission and concept through workshops, guide tour, conference, publications, etc.
  • Assist in managing budget and project timeline.
  • Perform multiple administrative tasks related to exhibitions and learning programmes.
  • Participate in curatorial discussions in updating exhibitions in coming years.
  • Liaise and coordinate with both internal and external parties on daily operations.
  • Perform ad hoc assignments as required.

You should have/be

  • Master`s Degree in museum education, museum studies, fine arts, art history, cultural management or related discipline.
  • Minimum 4 years of relevant experience in cultural sectors. (For Associate Curator, minimum 6 years of relevant experience is required).
  • Strong interest in CHAT’s mission and programmes.
  • Passionate about working for an arts and cultural organisation to realize your research ideas into dynamic exhibitions and learning content.
  • Enthusiastic, proactive individual with creative energy and self-initiative.
  • People oriented and strong team player.
  • Flexible and willing to work overtime and weekends at times, especially during peak seasons in preparation for exhibition openings.
  • Excellent verbal and writing communication skill in both English and Cantonese.
