This role offers a hands-on, technical position supporting the preparation, movement, and rehousing of museum objects, with a specific focus on large 3D objects. The Assistant Collection Manager will play a central role in major collection move projects, ensuring that objects are handled, packed, transported, and stored safely in line with best practice in collections care and preservation.
The position involves working in fast-paced project environments at the Bloomsbury site and occasionally at off-site storage facilities. It requires physical engagement, strong attention to detail, and effective teamwork under time pressure.
Key Responsibilities

Facilitate the movement, packing, and rehousing of large 3D objects, ensuring safe handling

Monitor object security and condition during storage and transit

Maintain and update object documentation, including locations, tracking data, and photography

Produce condition reports and carry out condition photography

Support wider project activities, including collections audits

Follow Health & Safety standards and represent the Museum professionally
