The British Museum is hiring an Assistant Collection Manager for Loans and Display. This hands-on technical role involves the preparation, packing, movement, and installation of objects from one of the world’s leading collections, supporting both UK and international loans and exhibitions.

Key Responsibilities

Handle, pack, and install museum objects for loans and exhibitions
Monitor the condition and security of items in storage, transit, and display
Maintain object records and documentation
Construct mounts and assist the Framed Works team
Apply best practices in object handling and storage

Candidate Profile

General education to GCSE level or equivalent
Demonstrable interest in museum collections
Manual dexterity and comfort with hand tools
IT proficiency and accurate record keeping
Understanding of materials and object care
Experience with workshop equipment is desirable
