Position: Assistant Conservator (Paintings & Sculpture)
Employment: Full-time (100%)
Department: Presidential Department, Kunstmuseum Basel
Commencement: Starting from January 1, 2024, with a fixed-term contract until December 31, 2024

Your Responsibilities:

  • Collection and Exhibition Care: Your responsibilities will encompass the conservation and restoration of paintings and sculptures. You will provide support in managing the collection (14th-21st century) and in exhibition-related activities.
  • Preventive Conservation: You will actively participate in extensive preventive conservation tasks.
  • Loan Traffic Management: Your duties will include assisting with loan traffic. This involves preparing loans and creating condition reports.
  • Project Work: As part of your employment, you will have the opportunity to independently work on an in-house restoration project.

Your Profile:

  • Experience: You have practical experience in a museum setting and possess good IT skills.
  • Personality: You have a structured and independent work style and are a responsible, open-minded, and enthusiastic team player.
  • Education: You have recently completed your university or college studies in the field of conservation and restoration of paintings and sculptures, obtaining a diploma or master’s degree.
  • Language: You have fluent German, as well as good oral and written English skills.
