Job Purpose
Assist in curatorial tasks, such as assembling, cataloguing, managing, and presenting artistic and cultural collections within a DCT museum or art gallery. Participate in interpreting objects, archives, and artworks through exhibitions, publications, events, and audio-visual presentations at the Guggenheim Abu Dhabi Museum.
Accountabilities
Curator Operations
- Organize exhibitions and concepts, oversee artifact restoration, monitor loans, and record items.
- Collaborate with conservation, education, design, and marketing departments, obtaining research findings.
- Manage art collection, ensuring proper exhibition/storage, preservation, and expansion.
- Research, negotiate, and acquire valuable art pieces, adding to the collection.
- Conduct public/private tours, workshops, and maintain art inventory.
- Perform dating/X-Ray tests, reporting findings to the line manager.
- Prepare grant proposals and promotional materials for funding.
- Represent curatorial aspects in museum project’s strategic planning.
Reports & Database
- Maintain updated databases for acquisition records and reports.
- Document artifact details, exhibitions, and restoration activities, reporting to the section manager.
- Conduct research for acquisition and commission proposals.
Policies, Processes, and Procedures
- Adhere to section policies, procedures, and instructions for consistent work execution.
Collaboration
- Collaborate with internal and external stakeholders for efficient information flow and awareness.
Day-to-Day Operations
- Follow line manager’s instructions for seamless work continuation and quality output delivery.
- Regularly report operational activities, challenges, and resolutions to the Line Manager.
EHS (Environment, Health, and Safety)
- Comply with EHS guidelines, report incidents/hazards promptly, and promote environmental protection and a safe work environment.
Change Management
- Foster a change-ready culture, contribute to new initiatives, achieve targets, and exhibit high-performance behaviors.
Qualifications, Experience, Competencies
Qualification:
Bachelor’s degree in Arts, Culture or equivalent
Experience:
0 to 2 years of experience in Culture/Arts/Heritage field for Bachelor Degree Holders
