Position Description
- Role: Supporting Mimosa House’s exhibitions and events programme, contributing to organizational growth
- Reporting To: Founding Director & Curator, Deputy Director
- Responsibilities: Curatorial and administrative tasks, exhibition logistics, programme development, creating online and in-print materials, writing grant applications, fundraising activities
Duties and Responsibilities
Exhibition Production & Artist Liaison
- Support Role: Assists Curator in research and development of exhibitions and public programme
- Logistics: Leads logistical production of exhibitions, facilitates loans, coordinates shipments, condition reporting, estimates, and new commissions
- Artist Relations: Cultivates relationships with artists, representatives, guest curators, partner institutions, lenders, and collaborators
- Hosting Duties: Organizes itineraries, transport, accommodation for visiting artists/curators
- Budget Management: Monitors and maintains budgets, ensures projects are completed within budget, maintains accurate financial records
- Team Management: Manages technicians, suppliers, freelancers for timely delivery of exhibitions and events logistics
- Programme Contribution: Contributes ideas to public programme, supports development and delivery of events
Communications & Audience Development
- Material Development: Supports Curator in writing exhibition descriptions and interpretive materials
- Contact Management: Manages contacts, maintains correspondence
- Audience Communications: Prepares social media content, website updates, Mailchimp mail-outs
- Record Keeping: Maintains records on artistic programme, handles external information requests
- Public Interaction: Introduces and discusses exhibitions with visitors, including patrons and funders
- Partnership Building: Expands audience engagement, builds partnerships with community groups
Fundraising
- Project Support: Writes and submits fundraising applications for specific projects
- Proposal Development: Prepares presentations and written proposals for potential supporters and sponsors
- External Engagement: Organizes exhibitions tours, studio visits for patrons, liaises with partner institutions, artists
- Fundraising Assistance: Supports Deputy Director in various fundraising activities, grant research, venue hires, artist editions
- Reporting: Assists in compiling project reports, develops evaluation processes, gathers audience data
Other Responsibilities
- Advocacy: Promotes Mimosa House’s activities, represents organization at public events
- Additional Duties: Invigilation duties, other tasks as requested by the Director
Required Skills and Experience
Essential:
- Two years’ experience in a similar role
- Post-graduate degree or equivalent experience in curating, art history, arts management, or related field
- Passion for contemporary art, alignment with Mimosa House’s vision
- Experience in coordinating complex exhibition logistics
- Excellent communication skills
- Proven experience in successful grant writing
- Proficient in Google Workspace and professional presentation creation
- Ability to work independently and in a team
- Attention to detail, organization skills
- Flexible, versatile approach, confidence in public speaking
Desirable:
- Experience in social media, Mailchimp, website management
- Knowledge of SketchUp or similar exhibition modeling software

Employment Terms
- Reporting To: Founding Director & Curator, Deputy Director
- Type: Part-time, 4 days/week
- Salary: £28,000 pro rata
- Working Days: Tuesday-Friday, 10am-6pm, occasional out-of-hours or weekend work (time off in lieu)
- Annual Leave: Pro rata basis to full-time entitlement of 28 days (including bank holidays)
- Contract: 1-year fixed term, potential for permanent subject
