The Assistant Curator plays a crucial role at Liverpool Biennial. The position involves supporting the Programme Team in research, planning, execution, and post-event activities for the Biennial exhibition and ongoing events, including talks, workshops, and publications.
Responsibilities:
- Curatorial and Exhibition Organization
- Assist in all stages of exhibition and event planning and execution.
- Lead the delivery of public programs, ensuring diversity and engagement.
- Manage festival commissions, projects, and loans effectively.
- Coordinate with artists, stakeholders, and venues for smooth operations.
- Support installation processes and maintenance of exhibitions.
- Administration
- Facilitate logistics for visiting artists and manage meetings.
- Oversee budgets, contracts, and communications efficiently.
- Contribute to Biennial publications and marketing efforts.
- Aid in fundraising efforts by providing essential project information.
- Ensure health, safety, and sustainability standards are met.
Person Specification:
- Essential: Experience in contemporary art curation or administration, strong project and budget management skills, proficiency in digital program organization, and a commitment to equity, diversity, inclusion, and sustainability.
- Desirable: Knowledge of health and safety in arts venues, experience outside traditional gallery settings, international work experience, publication contributions, line-management experience, and familiarity with Liverpool’s cultural scene.
