The Southbank Centre, Europe’s largest arts centre, is seeking an Assistant Curator Site Design to contribute to its vibrant cultural offerings on London’s South Bank. Reporting to the Curator Site Design, this role involves supporting exhibitions and projects across the Centre’s visual arts and Hayward Gallery programming. The position offers an annual salary of £22,704 (pro-rata from £37,840).
Role Overview
- Collaborate in planning, developing, and delivering exhibitions and projects.
- Manage smaller-scale projects, contributing to their curatorial and operational execution.
- Provide administrative support, including budgeting, logistics, and coordination of exhibitions and events.
Key Responsibilities
- Exhibition Development: Support exhibition management, including production, installations, and commissioning of artwork.
- Project Management: Handle logistics, budgets, and timelines for small-scale projects.
- Research and Curation: Propose and research new projects, contributing to interpretative materials.
- General Administration: Coordinate meetings, travel, and record-keeping; support broader team initiatives.
- Stakeholder Collaboration: Engage with artists, curators, and internal teams to ensure the success of projects.
Candidate Profile
The ideal candidate should demonstrate:
- Experience in organizing exhibitions, including budgeting and logistics.
- Knowledge of contemporary art and experience working in visual arts organizations.
