Job Summary:
The Hong Kong Palace Museum (HKPM) showcases exquisite artefacts from the Palace Museum’s collections and collaborates on research, exhibitions, education, and public programs. The museum has 7,800 square metres of gallery space for standing and special exhibitions. The Assistant Curator will assist in curating and implementing pre-opening exhibitions and public programs, collaborating with the Palace Museum in Beijing, and conducting academic research.
Key Responsibilities:
- Assist in researching, developing, and implementing pre-opening exhibitions and public programs to raise awareness of HKPM.
- Contribute to content development and academic research for exhibitions, publications, and public programs.
- Coordinate with the Palace Museum, Beijing, regarding the display and exhibition of its collection at HKPM.
- Perform ad hoc duties as assigned.
Required Qualifications:
- A recognized university degree in art history, history, cultural studies, or a related field (Master’s or MPhil preferred).
- 2-3 years of experience in curating, planning, or implementing exhibitions in museums or similar institutions.
- Strong knowledge of Chinese art history and research and translation skills.
- Collaborative mindset and ability to work in a dynamic, fast-paced environment.
- Proficiency in both oral and written English and Chinese; knowledge of Putonghua is a plus.
