Kirklees Museums & Galleries (KMAG) seeks an Assistant Curator to join the Curatorial and Technical (CAT) team, supporting the Our Cultural Heart programme—a transformative cultural regeneration project that will deliver a new Museum and Art Gallery in Huddersfield by 2029.
Role Overview
- Support a major collections relocation project, including documentation, care, packing, and handling of over 200,000 objects.
- Ensure accurate documentation to Spectrum standards.
- Assist in strategic developments, including co-production frameworks, contemporary collecting, and digital access initiatives.
- Work under the guidance of a Senior Curator.
- Support occasional evening/weekend activities.
Requirements
- Experience with museum collections and documentation systems.
- Knowledge of collections care and handling procedures.
- Strong organisational skills, attention to detail, and ability to work collaboratively.
- Commitment to inclusive practice and widening access to heritage.
- Physical mobility for practical, hands-on tasks in collection stores and historic buildings.
