M+ Museum is dedicated to collecting, exhibiting, and interpreting visual art, design and architecture, moving image, and Hong Kong visual culture of the 20th and 21st centuries. The museum combines local and international perspectives to define an innovative voice for Asia’s contemporary visual culture.
The Assistant Curator collaborates with curators across multiple disciplines to develop exhibitions, interpretive strategies, and visitor experiences that communicate key messages effectively to a broad audience.
Responsibilities

Develop compelling storytelling for exhibitions through text, interactives, audio guides, and other visitor experiences.

Produce interpretive planning and content strategies in English and Chinese for panels, labels, and interactives.

Work with learning and digital teams to ensure exhibitions meet audience development goals.

Create and develop content for tours and training programs for M+ Guides.

Recommend interpretive strategies in collaboration with curatorial, exhibition, and collection teams.

Build relationships within the volunteer guide and educator community.

Perform other duties reasonably assigned by M+.
Requirements

University degree in museum education, journalism, communications, creative media, cultural management, or equivalent.

4–5 years professional experience in programme planning, project management, or cultural events/festivals.

Proven experience in storytelling for informal learning outlets.

Strong research skills and commitment to learning; up-to-date with contemporary museum practices.

Diplomatic and collaborative team player with leadership and facilitation skills.

Excellent oral and written communication in English and Chinese.

Self-motivated, highly organized, and detail-oriented.

Candidates with less experience may be considered for the Curatorial Assistant position.

This is a fixed-term 2-year contract with possible renewal.
