SCAD seeks an assistant curator with knowledge, passion, and experience with modern and contemporary art and design to enhance university exhibitions.

In this role, you will be primarily responsible for the research, collection and organization of on- and off-campus exhibitions, including M.F.A. exhibitions in Savannah and Atlanta, Georgia. Once exhibitions are approved, you will create and follow exhibition checklists, communicate with prospective artists and professionals about exhibition spaces, logistics and deadlines, and oversee exhibition layout and installation. You will also support senior curatorial staff with the development of their projects, including administrative and installation support, research and other assistance as needed. You will write and proofread exhibition blurbs, show summaries, label copy, catalog texts, talking points and other professional marketing texts, as well as gather images and artist press materials for publications, docent preparation and press needs. Additionally, you will develop and execute community-based and educational programs to complement major exhibitions, and present class visits, curatorial talks and tours for the SCAD community, patrons and public.

This position requires you to develop relationships with SCAD faculty members in various departments and create shared goals for programming, as well as network with local arts organizations, potential patrons and media in order to promote SCAD exhibitions.

The ideal candidate has at least three years of related curatorial experience at a museum or gallery setting, strong knowledge of international modern and contemporary art and design, and an interest in SCAD artists. You should possess strong presentation and written and verbal communication skills, enjoy working in a team environment, and be prepared to travel as needed to conduct research and promote SCAD and its exhibition program.
