The role supports the interpretation, research, and presentation of American paintings and drawings, focusing on 18th- and 19th-century art within a broad and inclusive framework. Responsibilities include cataloguing, proposing gallery installations, contributing to publications, recommending acquisitions, and fostering engagement through programming and public outreach.
The successful candidate will work collaboratively across departments and with external communities to shape compelling narratives around the collection, while also supporting education and training initiatives, including leading tours, mentoring interns, and liaising with donors and advisory groups.
Candidate Profile
- PhD (or ABD) in Art History or American Studies
- 2–5 years museum experience in relevant curatorial roles
- Proven research and publication record
- Expertise in American painting and drawing, with a demonstrated interest in inclusive curatorial practice
- Strong communication skills and ability to work collaboratively
- Commitment to DEIA principles
