Salary range: £31,740 to £35,540 per annum, inclusive of Inner London Weighting (dependent on skills and experience)

An exciting opportunity has arisen for an Assistant Curator to join the Visual Arts department at the Barbican. This role will support the Curators and Head of Visual Arts, working on exhibitions, commissions, publications and events.
Critical to the Barbican’s strategic success and closely aligned with its core values, the Art Gallery presents a diverse exhibition programme that ranges from monographic surveys of influential artists from across the world to major international group shows exploring pivotal themes and issues of the day.
You’ll be responsible for supporting the realisation and co-ordination of exhibitions, commissions, publications and events and liaising with lenders, artists, designers and others as required. You will be engaged with international developments in modern and contemporary art and you will contribute ideas to the department’s programme.
The ideal candidate will have demonstrable knowledge of international modern and contemporary art, significant experience of working in a gallery or museum organising large, loan-based exhibitions, as well as writing and publishing in an art context. You will have excellent interpersonal skills with the ability to build relationships both internally and externally at all levels. The ability to work to deadlines and maintain an organised, ordered approach, with excellent attention to detail is essential.
