Role and Responsibilities
The Assistant Curator will work under the Collections Curator, assisting in organizing the M+ Collections. This includes cataloguing, documentation, writing exhibition labels, and preparing for external presentations. The candidate will ensure the museum’s cataloguing standards are met across various domains, including Design & Architecture, Moving Image, and Visual Art. Attention to detail and numerical proficiency are essential.
Research into the collections’ provenance, exhibition history, bibliographic references, and technical details is a key part of the role. The Assistant Curator will also help with day-to-day administrative duties as needed.
Requirements
- A university degree in Art History or a related field is preferred.
- Candidates should be punctual, collaborative, and have 4-5 years of curatorial experience, ideally within a museum setting.
- Proficiency in Chinese (Mandarin or Cantonese) and English is required.
- A passion for 20th and 21st-century visual culture is essential.
- Experience with The Museum System (TMS) or similar software is advantageous.
- Less experienced candidates may be considered for a Curatorial Assistant position.
