About M+ Museum

The M+ Museum, located in Hong Kong’s West Kowloon Cultural District, is on a mission to become a leading global cultural institution. It focuses on visual art, design, architecture, moving images, and Hong Kong’s visual culture from the twentieth and twenty-first centuries. The museum aims to reflect the unique era and location of Hong Kong, blending local and international influences to define an innovative voice for Asia in the twenty-first century.

Role and Responsibilities

The Assistant Curator will work under the Collections Curator, assisting in organizing the M+ Collections. This includes cataloguing, documentation, writing exhibition labels, and preparing for external presentations. The candidate will ensure the museum’s cataloguing standards are met across various domains, including Design & Architecture, Moving Image, and Visual Art. Attention to detail and numerical proficiency are essential.

Research into the collections’ provenance, exhibition history, bibliographic references, and technical details is a key part of the role. The Assistant Curator will also help with day-to-day administrative duties as needed.

Requirements
  • A university degree in Art History or a related field is preferred.
  • Candidates should be punctual, collaborative, and have 4-5 years of curatorial experience, ideally within a museum setting.
  • Proficiency in Chinese (Mandarin or Cantonese) and English is required.
  • A passion for 20th and 21st-century visual culture is essential.
  • Experience with The Museum System (TMS) or similar software is advantageous.
  • Less experienced candidates may be considered for a Curatorial Assistant position.
