The Fine Arts Museums of San Francisco seek an intellectually driven and socially committed Assistant Curator of Contemporary Art and Social Justice to support exhibitions, acquisitions, and programs aligned with FAMSF’s DEIA objectives. Reporting to the Curator-in-Charge, the role involves curating and caring for the collection, organizing exhibitions, contributing to scholarly publications, public programming, and cultivating relationships within the Bay Area art ecosystem. Candidates should have expertise in contemporary art and a demonstrable commitment to social justice.
Candidate Requirements
- MA in Art History or related field; PhD preferred
- Minimum 2 years’ curatorial experience or equivalent fellowships
- Strong research, writing, and communication skills
- Experience with artists and public programming
- Knowledge of TMS and Asana is a plus
