Assistant Curator, Contemporary Projects

The Assistant Curator, Contemporary Projects is a temporary full time 18 month position created to assist in the development and delivery of the NGA’s new exhibition series, Contemporary worlds. The incumbent will provide curatorial and organisational assistance to the departments of Contemporary Art – Global and Asian Art for the purposes of this new initiative. General duties include undertaking administration, curatorial research, cataloguing of works as well as preparation of works for exhibition.

The successful applicant will have a demonstrated broad knowledge of contemporary art globally, with particular knowledge of practice in South East Asia, and relevant tertiary qualifications and/or equivalent experience.

Demonstrated curatorial skills and experience in museum practices and procedures, including sound cataloguing, data entry and documentation skills and knowledge of collection management databases is required.  Experience in the use of KE EMu and in the cataloguing and co-ordination of digital born media is essential.
