
Assistant Curator / Curatorial Assistant, Learning and Interpretation
M+ is a museum dedicated to collecting, exhibiting, and interpreting visual art, design and architecture, moving image, and Hong Kong visual culture of the twentieth and twenty-first centuries. In support of the Government’s Job Creation Scheme under the Anti-epidemic Fund, we are now inviting applications for the following position under a one-year fixed-term contract:
You will be responsible for:
- creating and developing content for a range of drop-in and registered tours;
- developing and implementing a training program for M+ Guides and museum educators to enhance mediation skills and discipline knowledge;
- building relationships within the volunteer guide community;
- ensuring effective communication within the learning and interpretation team, M+ Guides and M+ visitor services;
- developing and implementing an evaluation plan to ensure outcomes are being met and issues are resolved;
- working with curatorial, and exhibition and collection teams to recommend interpretive strategies and writing text to support audiences in the museum;
- conducting research in field such as learning and teaching pedagogy, interpretation strategy, with an aim to offer a range of learning tools that allows for an expanded participation and engagement for all visitors; and
- assisting the Learning and Interpretation team in all events and activities with administrative support.
You should:
- possess a recognised university degree, preferably in Museum Education, Fine Arts, Design, Architecture, Moving Images, Creative Media, Cultural Management or equivalent;
- have at least 4 years of work experience in coordinating, planning and implementing learning programmes for community groups; preferably in an arts and cultural organisation;
- possess strong project coordination, research and interpersonal skills;
- be self-motivated and able to work independently and cooperatively with others in a fast-paced environment;
- be highly-organised and detail-oriented;
- possess administrative experience preferably in project management in any arts and cultural organisations; and
- have excellent written and oral communication skills in English and Chinese.
