The Met is seeking an Assistant Curator specializing in European Sculpture and medals, ca. 1450–1700. This is a two-year, full-time, end-dated position at The Met Fifth Avenue. The successful candidate will assist the Curator in Charge and Associate Curator of Sculpture with the research, documentation, exhibition, and care of the collection. They will contribute to scholarship, public programming, and donor relations, as well as facilitate loans, publications, and educational initiatives.
Key Responsibilities

Research, catalogue, and publish works of European sculpture in the Museum’s collection.

Assist with collection care, conservation documentation, and database updates (TMS).

Plan and install exhibitions and prepare accompanying publications.

Contribute to public programming, tours, lectures, and mentorship of interns and fellows.

Cultivate and steward donors and collectors; participate in Friends and Visiting Committee events.

Collaborate with colleagues across departments and maintain professional networks nationally and internationally.
Qualifications

PhD in Art History with a focus on European Sculpture, 1500–1900.

0–3 years of museum or related professional experience, including academic research.

Demonstrated scholarly achievement through publications, lectures, or research.

Excellent interpersonal and communication skills; collaborative mindset.

Fluency in French, German, Italian, and/or Spanish.

Salary: $85,000–$90,000 annually
