This is an exciting opportunity for someone with a passion for promoting public engagement with the arts to work at the heart of a world-renowned and award-winning public art gallery in the beautiful location of St Ives in West Cornwall.
As part of the programme team, you’ll support the delivery of innovative interpretation that helps audiences engage with contemporary art and historical displays. With a keen eye for detail and excellent writing and text-based skills, you’ll help generate and coordinate the production of interpretation in a wide range of media, both in the galleries and online. You’ll show you’re a team player who understands the issues and practices of interpreting art and heritage for broad and diverse audiences.
This role is supported by the National Heritage Lottery Fund.
This is a fixed-term contract to the end of June 2024, with a possibility of extension subject to funding.

About the role
To support the Curator, Interpretation in the preparation, planning and delivery of all Interpretation resources at Tate St Ives and the Barbara Hepworth Museum and Sculpture Garden
About your team
Tate St Ives’ Programme team combines our Exhibitions and Displays team with Interpretation and Learning teams to create an innovative approach to programming, integrating the planning and delivery of exhibitions with an understanding and awareness of our audiences. Interpretation at Tate is a research-led practice that facilitates audience engagement at the moment of encounter. The team produces content including text, audio, digital interactives, timelines, leaflets, and spaces for visitor response and reflection.

What you will do (Main Duties and Responsibilities)
- Produce exhibitions, displays and heritage interpretation with support from the Curator, Interpretation at Tate St Ives
- Generate engaging and accessible interpretation for Tate collection displays, exhibitions and heritage assets
- Support the development and delivery of interpretative content suitable for a wide range of audiences
- Develop and deliver innovative interpretation in different media, such as audio, digital, leaflets, trails, captions, and online
- Support, supervise and administer the commissioning of external producers, through to production and install
- Assist with exhibition and displays interpretation delivery and installation
- Write, edit and format texts and captions for artworks using best practice and in line with
Tate guidelines
