An exciting opportunity has arisen to join the Tate Britain curatorial team as an Assistant Curator, Modern British Art. This role will sit with the Modern British Art team (covering 1900 to c.1980). You will assist and support the Curator, Modern British Art, with a focus on the period 1900-1945, to deliver exhibitions and collection displays; to research the modern collection and potential acquisitions; and to write interpretation and summary texts.
We are looking for a well-organised team-player with exhibitions experience and experience working with collections, able to multi-task, meet deadlines, and pay close attention to detail. You will possess particular knowledge of British Art from the first half of the twentieth century and will contribute to curatorial work on the collection of British art within a global context. We welcome candidates who can bring new and under-represented perspectives and voices into their work with exhibitions and the collection, particularly within the context of the legacies of colonialism, and ongoing racism and societal inequalities.
You will undertake the role in alignment with Tate’s priorities, including those concerning our audiences, our environmental impact, and our staff values (to be open, bold, rigorous and kind). Tate actively supports equality, diversity and inclusion. We believe that diversity strengthens and enriches us, and are committed to helping to make the arts and cultural sector a more diverse and equal place.
Please note this is a 12 month fixed-term role, working 3 days per week.
Our jobs are like our galleries, open to all.
