Role Overview
MoMA is seeking an Assistant Curator for its Department of Drawings and Prints, focusing on the Fluxus movement, its global networks, and contemporary works on paper. This position involves managing the collection, contributing to exhibitions and publications, supporting acquisitions, and engaging with external and internal stakeholders.
Key Responsibilities
- Collaborate on collection management, exhibitions, and public programs centered on the Fluxus movement and its international networks.
- Conduct research on the Museum’s collection and archives, supporting acquisitions, exhibitions, and public programs.
- Plan and execute installations and exhibitions, both independently and collaboratively.
- Assist senior curators with research, planning, and organizing major exhibitions.
- Author and edit publications, including exhibition-related materials and object labels.
- Supervise and mentor curatorial staff and interns.
- Participate in departmental teams focused on core functions, such as storage and acquisitions research.
- Liaise with external contacts, other Museum departments, and contemporary artists to support curatorial initiatives.
Requirements
- Education: Master’s degree or higher in art history.
- Experience: At least 4 years of curatorial experience, preferably in a museum setting.
- Expertise: Demonstrated knowledge of the Fluxus movement, its global networks, and contemporary art influenced by Fluxus.
- Proficiency in collections management, exhibitions, and cataloging works of art.
- Strong research and writing skills with a history of producing scholarly materials.
- Familiarity with The Museum System (TMS) and proficiency in MS Office.
- Additional language proficiency is preferred.
- Exceptional organizational and administrative skills with attention to detail.
