Description of Work
The assistant curator of exhibitions is responsible for providing research support and assistance in all aspects of exhibitions and publications development and implementation, as well as for coordinating and occasionally organizing museum-generated exhibitions; assisting with the daily tasks of managing a curatorial department; working closely with the Collections and Exhibitions units of the department; and complying with operations, aesthetic, safety, and environmental standards for the institution. Advocates and advances the mission of the museum. Supports museum colleagues in needed capacities.

Minimum Required Qualifications
Master’s degree in Art History, Fine Arts, Curatorial or Museum Studies required. Two years in a curatorial assistant position and/or related research position at the college level required. Must possess knowledge of American art and culture with emphasis on twentieth-century and contemporary art. Strong organization and computer skills to include word processing and database software essential. Strong verbal and written communication skills necessary. Ability to work in and at times lead a team environment is essential.
Preferred Qualifications
Knowledge of collections management and museum policies preferred. Demonstrated record of publication related to the candidate’s field of study preferred.
