The Kunstverein für Mecklenburg und Vorpommern in Schwerin, a forum for contemporary art founded in 2002, is seeking a part-time freelance Assistant or Program Curator to join its team. The institution focuses on supporting and presenting young artists within current artistic and sociopolitical discourses through exhibitions and public programming.

This flexible role (partly remote, with required presence in Schwerin) involves curatorial assistance for exhibitions, especially the supporting program, with the opportunity to develop your own formats. Responsibilities include production management, editorial work, artist and visitor support, press and PR, as well as administrative duties and member services.

Responsibilities

Support exhibition and event programming, including developing new formats
Coordinate the annual editions exhibition
Organize and produce exhibitions
Maintain and develop regional and national partnerships
Write and edit scholarly texts
Manage press and public relations
Assist artists and visitors
Support fundraising and grant applications
Carry out administrative and accounting prep work
Assist with member management and association tasks

Candidate Profile

Solid knowledge of contemporary art
Excellent German and good English skills
Experience in curating, production, and communication
Strong organizational, writing, and interpersonal skills
Availability to work both remotely and on-site in Schwerin
