Assistant Director Curatorial and Programs
The National Gallery of Australia is Australia’s national cultural institution for the visual arts and plays a leadership role in shaping visual arts culture across Australia and the region. Through the national collection, exhibitions, learning and public programs, outreach initiatives, research and publications, the National Gallery is a model of excellence in furthering knowledge of the visual arts nationally and internationally.
This key leadership position contributes directly to shaping the intellectual and organisational culture of the National Gallery as it progresses in building on its significant legacy to lead the national cultural agenda.
The Assistant Director Curatorial and Programs is responsible to the Director for the leadership and management of program delivery across the Curatorial and Programs portfolio including:
- Development and management of the national collection of works of art.
- Advancing the profile and aweareness of Australian art with major international projects that support cultural diplomacy and international relations.
- Facilitating access to the national collection through a wide range of innovative and exceptional education and learning services to establish the Gallery as a national leader in education and learning.
The successful applicant will have considerable expertise and experience in Australian or international art or be a leader in arts education.
This is a full-time non-ongoing employment opportunity available for 5 years.
