About the Role

The Position

Duration: March 2024 – February 2025

The Assistant Producer reports to the Performance Producer and collaborates with the exhibition and curatorial teams. This role involves supporting performance scheduling, coordination, and supervision at the Whitney Museum of American Art.

Responsibilities

  • Coordinate performance pre-production, setup, execution, and post-production with curators and exhibition staff.
  • Attend, contribute, and take minutes at production meetings.
  • Research, order, and manage materials and equipment for projects.
  • Draft production schedules, manage security lists, and handle complimentary tickets.
  • Schedule and supervise rehearsals and site visits with artists and collaborators.
  • Serve as the primary contact during rehearsals and performances.
  • Catalog and track production materials, props, and equipment.
  • Assist in drafting and distributing Performance Agreements and negotiating terms.
  • Oversee performance production management aspects, including rentals, tech bookings, and supervising load-ins and load-outs.
  • Supervise performances when the Performance Producer is unavailable.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in Performing Arts preferred.
  • At least three years of experience in a theater, museum, or similar environment.
  • Excellent interpersonal skills to work with diverse artists.
  • Background in live performance, exhibitions, and event planning.
  • Professional demeanor with strong communication skills.
  • Ability to handle multiple projects simultaneously.
  • Willingness to work evenings and weekends.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office, GSuite, Adobe, PC, and Mac OS.

Compensation and Benefits

  • Full-time temporary role (35 hours/week) with a yearly salary of $55,000.
