The School of Communication and Culture at Aarhus University invites applications for the position of Assistant Professor of Aesthetics and Culture in the Department of Art History, Aesthetics & Culture and Museology. This position is a full-time, three-year fixed-term role with the opportunity to apply for an associate professorship. The role begins on 1 August 2025 or as soon as possible thereafter.

Key Responsibilities

• Research: Contribute to the interdisciplinary field of aesthetics and culture, focusing on the interdependencies between artistic and cultural practices.
• Teaching: Deliver courses in aesthetics and culture for BA and MA degree programmes. Use innovative teaching methods and supervise students at both levels.
• Knowledge Exchange: Engage in collaborative initiatives with national and international partners, contributing to both academic and public spheres.

Qualifications

• PhD or equivalent academic qualifications in a relevant field (art, aesthetics, culture).
• Experience in teaching and research at a university level.
• A research profile within aesthetics, art, and culture, demonstrated by publications and/or a doctoral dissertation.
• Experience with interdisciplinary research and methods in aesthetics and culture.
• Ability to teach in both Danish and English. If not already proficient, applicants should be willing to learn Danish within three years.
