National Museums Liverpool is delighted to let you know about an exciting opportunity coming up.
This role will join the Urban History Team based at the Museum of Liverpool. If successful you will work closely with the on-site team in the redevelopment and installation of our Wondrous Place gallery, our celebration of Liverpool’s creative and sporting story, as well as our wider urban history collection.

Purpose and objectives
– Assist with the planning, research, interpretation, content delivery and install of the Wondrous Place gallery to engage diverse audiences.
– To collect, document and retrieve information concerning the Museum of Liverpool and its urban history collection.
– To assist in the care, maintenance, display and interpretation of the Museum of Liverpool’s collections and work as a member of a team.
Main Activities
This post reports to the Curator of Sport, Music and Performance. You will work as part of the Urban History team to:
Wondrous Place gallery redevelopment
– Complete exhibition briefs and deliver content to agreed deadlines
– Complete an audit of objects currently in storage at the Museum of Liverpool and our satellite store for display purposes
– Carry out image and film research, licencing and procurement
– Complete loan agreements and organise object transportation in liaison with the registrar
– Assist conservation colleagues carrying out object condition checks
– Assist with object sourcing, selection and installation
Urban History team
Support senior curators by answering enquiries and researching new offers to the collection; ensuring effective communication at all stages.
Complete the accessioning process for new acquisitions, marking, storing, maintaining location control and updating records to agreed standards.
Be responsible for the good housekeeping of the store and to check levels of storage consumables, re-ordering as required.
Monitor the physical and environmental condition of displays and collections and support the programme of gallery maintenance.
Create content for online collections and digital engagement.
