Assistant to the Director and Contemporary Art Curatorship – Museo de Arte de Lima (MALI), Lima, Peru

Position: Assistant to the Director and Contemporary Art Curatorship
Institution: Museo de Arte de Lima – MALI
Location: Lima, Peru
Contract: Full-time
Schedule: Monday to Friday, 9 a.m. to 6 p.m.
Start Date: 19 May 2025

About the Role

MALI is seeking a dedicated professional with a strong academic background in art history or related fields to join its team as Assistant to the Director and Contemporary Art Curatorship. This role supports the director in the development, production, and management of exhibitions, publications, and acquisitions, contributing to significant national and international projects.

The position combines critical research with essential administrative tasks and requires an active engagement with the contemporary art scene in Peru.

Key Responsibilities

  • Assist the curator in developing timelines and managing communications with artists, curators, and institutions
  • Coordinate production with the museography team and oversee administrative tasks such as invoicing and quotations
  • Support the editing and coordination of publications and exhibition graphic materials
  • Provide assistance to the Contemporary Art Acquisitions Committee (CAAC), including document updates, acquisition tracking, meeting logistics, and reporting
  • Manage archives and documentation of exhibitions and acquisitions
  • Support additional administrative and coordination duties as required

Candidate Profile

Applicants should have:

  • A degree in Art History, Cultural Management, Humanities, or related fields
  • Minimum 3 years of experience in similar roles or within cultural institutions
  • Knowledge of contemporary art history
  • Advanced proficiency in English (spoken and written) / Spanish (native/advanced)
  • Strong command of Microsoft Office and basic knowledge of Adobe Photoshop or Illustrator (preferred)
  • Excellent organizational and communication skills with great attention to detail
