Position Summary
Rutgers seeks an Associate Curator for the Zimmerli Art Museum in New Brunswick. The museum, established in 1966, enriches Rutgers and Central New Jersey’s cultural life. It boasts over 60,000 objects and hosts changing exhibitions. The museum emphasizes diversity, equity, access, and inclusion.
The role focuses on the Dodge Collection of Soviet Non-Conformist Art. Key responsibilities include research, curating exhibitions, and developing educational programs. The Associate Curator will also manage a new website for the collection and oversee the work of Graduate Fellows and other staff.
Key Responsibilities
- Conducting research and curating exhibitions.
- Managing exhibition publications and educational programs.
- Leading projects, including exhibitions by graduate students and guest curators.
- Developing a website for the Dodge Collection.
- Supervising staff, including an Archivist/Librarian and interns.
Qualifications
- M.A. in 20th-21st-century art history.
- Minimum of 2 years of curatorial experience in an art institution.
- Proficiency in the Russian language and a strong understanding of Soviet and Eastern European art.
- Excellent communication skills and the ability to engage with a diverse audience.
- Strong organizational skills and familiarity with current technology.
